This is my first editorial as the new editor of Pakistan Orthodontic Journal
(POJ). The role of an editor for me is honorable yet challenging. POJ has a very
short history and I appreciate contributions made by previous editors and
authors. My predecessors recognized the importance of publishing the Journal,
and we are facing a great challenge at this infancy stage of POJ. My editorial
team and I are determined to continue the hard work and face the challenge
(Inshallah). In trying to achieve this challenge we require support and
encouragement from our readers and contributors.
It is also important to stress that the work carried out by the editorial board
would not be possible without their major contribution, especially taking time
out from their schedule and work for the Journal. They perform a largely
anonymous role, and without them it would be impossible to publish the journal.
It should be remembered that there are many international orthodontic journals
and significant competition for us from a number of other journals (Local &
International) in attracting the very best submissions. A core aim of all
clinical journals is to help to improve the quality of care that we provide for
our patients. As the Editor I am aware of the difficulties faced by our authors
and therefore assure that no manuscript will be rejected without providing
comments that are aimed to bring the manuscript into shape according to the
Journal requirements as it is important to ensure scientific and ethical
standards.
The wealth of education is based on research. I would like to encourage
residents and faculty to submit their work to the Journal as it’s their
association and their own Journal; therefore they must publish their work in
their Journal.
